Thursday, March 26th at the Union League of Philadelphia. Big Money host Steve Cordasco
welcomed economist Joe Naroff, President of Naroff Economic Advisors and Chief Economist for
TD Bank along with special guest Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter who spoke on the current
economic conditions in our region and what impact the Obama Stimulus Plan will have on
Philadelphia. Our keynote speaker was former U.S. Comptroller General, David Walker, who
discussed the current economic conditions, the perils of our growing national debt and will
featured portions of the film I.O.U.S.A.

Steve Cordasco: Big Money really talks and so does Steve Cordasco Saturday and Sunday mornings on The Big Talker, 1210AM. Cordasco provides long-term financial strategies for today's investor. Joel L. Naroff: President and founder of Naroff Economic Advisors, a strategic economic consulting firm. He advises companies across the country on the risks and opportunities that economic developments may have on the organization's operating environment. On a consulting basis, Joel serves as Chief Economist for TD Bank in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Portland, Maine. He is the economic consultant for Cumberland Advisors, a personal service, money management firm headquartered in New Jersey and an economic advisor to Trefoil Properties and Spectrum Alliance. He consults with banks on asset/liability, corporations on economic risk and opportunities and is an economic and financial advisor to state and local governments.
A nationally recognized economic forecasting expert, Joel has received numerous honors. In 2008 he was awarded the Lawrence Klein Award for Blue Chip forecasting excellence and was the Bloomberg Business News 2008 top economic forecaster. In 2007, he received the National Association of Business Economists Outlook Award as the top economic forecaster. In 2006, he was named the top economic forecaster by MSNBC. He was the first independent economist to win the CBS MarketWatch Economist of the Month award.
Michael Nutter: was sworn-in as the 98th Mayor of Philadelphia on January 7th,
2008. Mayor Nutter is a native Philadelphian with an accomplished career in public
service, business and financial administration. He served as a Philadelphia City Councilman for nearly 15 years representing the city’s Fourth District encompassing the communities of Wynnefield, Overbrook, Roxborough, Manayunk, East Falls, Mt. Airy, and parts of North and West Philadelphia.
During his time in Council, Michael Nutter engineered groundbreaking ethics reform legislation and led successful efforts to pass a citywide smoking ban. He worked to lower taxes for Philadelphians and to reform the city’s tax structure, to increase the number of Philadelphia police officers patrolling the streets and to create a Police Advisory Board to provide a forum for discussion between citizens and the Police Department.
David M. Walker: President and CEO of the Peterson Foundation, the Hon. David M. Walker is charged with leading the Foundation’s efforts to: enhance public understanding of the nature and urgency of selected key sustainability challenges that threaten America’s future; propose sensible and workable solutions to address these challenges; and build public and political will to do something about them. This includes efforts in connection with fiscal, entitlement, health care, energy, education, and non-proliferation issues.
Prior to joining the Peterson Foundation, Mr. Walker served over nine years as the seventh Comptroller General of the United States and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). During his tenure as Comptroller General, he led a major transformation effort at the GAO and within the accountability profession both domestically and internationally. As Comptroller General, Walker was also an outspoken and non-partisan advocate for addressing the major fiscal and other national sustainability and government transformation challenges facing the United States.
