Ashley Climaldi
United States Coast Guard, Cape May, NJ
Seaman Climaldi is a fully qualified Boat Crew Member, Boarding Team Member,
and Emergency Medical Technician. Over a two-day period, her heroic actions helped save the lives of two
people and prevented three others from being injured. At the scene of a capsized 21-foot boat, Climaldi pulled
a Captain from the Camden Police Force from the water. Finding him unresponsive and not breathing, she
successfully performed CPR and the Captain has made a full recovery. Later that same day, she assisted in
locating three boating accident victims missing in the water. Two days later, while in a local restaurant,
Climaldi administered the Heimlich maneuver to help a choking 3-year-old child. She has served on 11 search
and rescue missions and assisted 24 people in distress. In the civilian community, Seaman Climaldi is an
EMT and water rescue trainer.
