PITTSBURGH (AP) A woman from Pittsburgh is reportedly among
the 13 people killed Thursday in the shooting rampage in Fort Hood,
Texas.
Military physician assistant Juanita Warman, 55, is among the
victims, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday.
Her sister, Margaret Yaggie of Roaring Branch in north-central
Pennsylvania, told the paper that the family was notified early
Friday.
Warman attended Pittsburgh Langley High School and put herself
through school at the University of Pittsburgh, Yaggie said. She
said her sister had two daughters and six grandchildren and spent
most of her career in the military.
A message left for Yaggie by The Associated Press was not
immediately returned Friday evening.
Another woman from western Pennsylvania is among those injured
at Fort Hood.
Army 2nd Lt. Brandy Mason was shot in the thigh, her aunt told
KDKA-TV on Friday.
Sabrina Heath of the Pittsburgh suburb of Monessen said her
niece made a brief call home Thursday and said she was at the
Soldier Readiness Center waiting her turn when the gunfire began.
Mason spent 14 months in Iraq and was never shot at, her aunt
said.
